The Journey of Becoming a Professional Computer Engineer

With the high expectations and demands in the computer industry, I believe that taking a Computer Engineering course is the best choice and it always makes one proud to be wearing a coat and tie and be affiliated in business or corporate industry. I aspired to be an IT Specialist. As I work toward my goal, I started developing and upskilling myself by attending a series of training workshops in and out of the institution. After receiving my diploma in Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, I was fortunate enough that the company where I received my on-the-job training recognized my potential and hired me as Computer Technical Support for Schools and Government Agencies.
After a few years in the field, I moved to an office-based position as a technical support personnel in one of the schools in Quezon City. Working in an educational institution opened an opportunity for me to take advantage of the various ICT trainings and workshops. Eventually, I found myself pursuing a career as an ICT Specialist. As part of the team responsible for developing and implementing a local grading system, we made use of our network infrastructure and MS Office applications. I had a difficult time adjusting from field tech to office buddy at first, but eventually I saw the possibility of achieving my dream of becoming an ICT Specialist. Each day, I tried to improve my programming abilities, graphical design layout, and management of ICT infrastructure. To expand my knowledge, I took the TESDA certification in Computer Hardware Servicing. Hardware was constantly being upgraded, while software applications were contributing to the development of new integrations.
